Cfd – 2 Way – Fluid Structure Interaction
Description
I am looking for a CFD specialist with deep experience in OpenFOAM to simulate the hydrodynamic response of a Wave Energy Converter (WEC) buoy. The primary goal is to analyze the up-and-down (heave) motion for my 3d step file (design).
Physics: 6DoF (Six Degrees of Freedom) restricted to Heave (Z-axis), or full 6DoF if suggested.
Objective: Capture the buoy's displacement response and determine the power output based on heave velocity.
Key Requirements:
Motion Tracking: Accurate implementation of sixDoFRigidBodyMotion or rigidBodyMeshMotion.
Deliverables:
Post-processing animations showing the Free Surface Effect (VOF) and buoy response.
To Apply: Please describe your experience with WEC simulations. Specifically, mention how you handle the mesh at the waterline to ensure the "up and down" motion doesn't cause cell distortion or pressure spikes.
